Assistance for Homeless Veterans
Along with the several veterans benefits provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs is a program for homeless veterans. The objective of this program is to give our veterans assistance and a better place to live as they deserve it.
Statistics said that nearly 200,000 veterans are homeless. Some causes of this reality include scarcity and lack of support from their loved ones and friends. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the only federal branch that gives hands-on support to homeless personnel who have served in the armed forces. The agency has already granted over four hundred (400) awards to public and nonprofit groups to assist homeless military in 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Related programs for homeless veterans include the following: 1. VA's Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program (HCHV) 2. VA's Domiciliary Care for Homeless Veterans (DCHV) Program 3. Veterans Benefits Assistance at VA Regional Offices 4. Acquired Property Sales for Homeless Providers Program 5. Readjustment Counseling Service's Vet Centers
